How Cepther handles your data.

Privacy

Your files. Your privacy.

Your history and preferences stay on your computer. Cepther makes the network requests needed for the features you use, without adding usage analytics.

What Cepther collects

Cepther has no usage analytics, advertising trackers or automatic crash reporting.

What is stored locally

Downloads, history, settings, presets, saved links, Creator Watch records, the Download Archive, the notification feed and cookies are stored on your computer. Temporary files may include unfinished downloads and cached media.

Network requests

Cepther contacts source sites to fetch media and check creators you follow. Enabled features may contact SponsorBlock, engine download providers and update services. These services receive network information such as your IP address.

Cookies and logins

Cookies are saved locally and sent to the relevant source site to authenticate requests. Signing in through the built in browser also communicates with that site. You can remove stored cookies in the Cookie Manager.

Incognito

Incognito skips writing download history while enabled. It does not hide requests from source sites or remove files you download.

Clearing data

Clear history and the notification feed, and manage cookies, presets and saved links in the app. History exports leave out cookies, passwords and tokens. Clear cache on exit removes temporary data when you quit and can prevent cancelled downloads from resuming later. Saved downloads remain until you delete them.

This website

The website has no analytics scripts, advertising or tracking cookies. It stores your theme choice in your browser. The hosting provider processes requests needed to serve the pages and may keep access logs. External links, including Discord, follow their own privacy policies.

Local playback and AI captions

The media player opens files on your computer. Optional AI captions process downloaded audio locally with Whisper. Installing the engine and models requires network requests to their download hosts. Captions and exported screenshots are stored locally.

Changes

This page will be updated when Cepther’s data handling changes.
